Goodbye Summer Beach Party

Saturday, September 1, 2001
(Labor Day Weekend)
Manhattan Beach, California

but call Joe to confirm your attendance

This is the annual "backyard" event on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.
Family and friends gather for fun at the beach, with some great barbecue
and even grilled burgers and hot dogs.

On Saturday, September 1, 2001, scbbqa  will present Joe O'Connell's annual Goodbye Summer Beach Party.  Members of the scbbqa, with their families and friends, celebrate the "first day of summer" in Manhattan Beach.

The day is dedicated to "backyard" fun -- without any contest or cookoff.  And, of course, without any cost.  There will be lots of sun, surf, and food, including great barbecue and grilled fare.

Contact Joe O'Connell for information, reservation and directions.

STUFF TO DO

We're holding the Bash in an ideal resort location (perfect if you can't get away to Hawaii for the weekend) -- we'll be on a huge, green lawn overlooking the ocean that is 20 feet from the sand, 100 feet from the beach volley ball tournament, and 100 yards from the warm Pacific surf.  Here is a partial list of stuff to do at the Party:

On the grass --

  • Enjoy real barbecue

  • Burgers and dogs (for the kids?)

  • Chat with old and new friends

  • Get together a softball or soccer game

  • Nap under a tree on the lawn

On the sand --

  • Build sand castles with the kids

  • Frisbee

  • Volley ball

  • Listen to the ball game

In the surf --

  • Boogies board

  • Body surf

  • Ocean Kayak

  • Surfing

  • Watch the dolphins play in the breakers

  • Seal watching

  • Lots more
