BBQ Events
The CBBQA organizes and sanctions many events. On these pages, members and visitors may reference upcoming and past events, including competitions, festivals, picnics, banquets, charitable barbecues, and other get-togethers of members, families and their friends.

Types of Events
The Association presents several different types of events, from informal get-togethers and parties to more organizes competitions.
Parties
BBQ Picnics and Q-Fests are informal get-togethers of members and their families and friends. There is no competition, so the ambiance is fun and laid-back. Picnics are usually very informal backyard or beach get-togethers. Q-Fests are usually a bit more organized than picnics, are usually overnight affairs, and include seminars about various aspects of BBQ, as well as lots of great food, entertainment, friendship and fun.
Contests
BBQ Contests are structured competitions which feature the best in barbecue in four categories: pork, ribs, chicken and beef brisket. Some contests include additional categories, like tri-tip, sausage, seafood or dessert. All cbbqa sponsored or promoted barbecue contests are sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS), which sets the contest rules and trains and certifies the judging.
Charitable Events
Each year the CBBQA puts on one or more charitable barbecue events for needy children or other groups in our state. In 2003, we put on several barbecue picnics for Marines returning from Iraq and their families.
Classes
The cbbqa sponsors several types of classes, from informal backyard classes put on by our members to structured barbecue classes put on by professional barbecue cooks. We also offer KCBS Certified Barbecue Judging classes where individuals can become certified barbecue judges.
