Advantages of membership in the California Barbecue Association

Members of the Association enjoy a variety of benefits.  There are two types of membership:  regular (which includes individuals and spouses) and business.  The advantages of each are described here.

The primary benefit of a membership is to increase your understanding and appreciation of authentic American barbecue.

Regular members

Regular members include both individuals and joint (husband-wife) members.  Each regular member receives the following benefits:

• Members will get a membership card, a membership certificate and a sticker;
• Subscription to Smokin' Times, the cbbqa newsletter with information about news, upcoming events, and stories to improve barbecue;
• Subscription to the cbbqa mailing list;
• An individual email address, in the form yourname@cbbqa.com;
• Free admission and free food at our Q-Fests for you and your immediate family;
• Voting rights for the election of a board of directors;
• Board Member or Officer, membership entitles you to be a candidate.

To become a Regular Member, with your contribution of only $36.00 per year, simply complete the online Application for New Regular Membership.

Business members

Business members are entitled to all the benefits of regular membership plus the following benefits:

• Tax write-off as a business expense for dues and sponsorships;
• Invitations to special events, including barbecue festivals (Q-Fests), contests, camping trips, seminars, parties, summer picnics, and many other activities;
• An individual email address, in the form yourname@cbbqa.com;
• The opportunity to display the member's products and services at all Association events, including contests and subject to space availability;
• A banner ad on the Association's website (subject to special rules);
• A website link from the Association's website to the member's website;
• The opportunity to become an official sponsor of an Association event or team;
• The right to use the logo and Association's name as a "Member");  and
• An advertising credit towards an ad in the Smokin' Times newsletter.
