The California Barbecue Association offers membership and sponsorship opportunities

The California Barbeque Association offers membership and sponsorship opportunities as a 501 3c Non-profit Corporation!

The California Barbeque Association welcomes members and sponsors to join the Association in order to assist needy children, other charitable issues and to promote an understanding and appreciation of Authentic American Barbecue.

California Barbecue Association

The Association is a non-profit, charitable California Corporation.

The Association is organized to assist needy children, their families and other charitable issues in part by promoting the understanding and appreciation of real, authentic barbecue. Real barbeque traces its roots to the cooking techniques of Native Americans who lived in the Southeast and Caribbean before the arrival of Columbus.

The Association hosts many barbeque events, teaching, fundraisers and sanctions many barbeque contests throughout California and the western states. The mission of the Association, in summary, is to assist needy children through the promotion of an understanding and appreciation of authentic American barbecue, by presenting get-togethers, contests, festivals, fundraisers and other events for the members, their families, their friends and the public.

Authentic American Barbeque is being re-discovered by Americans everywhere, and no more so than in California and the West. Barbeque contests, classes and other events generate an ever-growing public interest and awareness of real barbeque and increase in the "Q'munity". Members and sponsors help the Association continue the promotion of an understanding and appreciation of real barbecue, which benefits needy children while popularizing the Native American roots of authentic historical barbeque.

Among the Association's charitable events are barbeque picnics for several
California-based Marine Corps battalions and their families. These picnics
honor our fighting forces and their families and are organized in cooperation
Operation BBQ For Our Troops.

Membership in the Association

There are two levels of membership in the Association:

  • Regular membership (including individuals and spouses)
  • Business membership

Each individual member and each couple who share a single membership pay only single dues as an individual or joint regular member. In the case of spousal memberships, both share the membership, so both receive a membership card, business cards, and other benefits, although they share a single copy of the Smokin' Times newsletter which is part of the National Barbecue News publication. Furthermore, spousal members are entitled to cast a single, "joint" vote at membership meetings. There are two levels of membership in the Association:

Members are classified as Regular members (whose dues are $36.00 per year) and Business members (whose dues are $72.00 per year).

Benefits of membership include invitations to special events, discounts on cooking and judging classes, monthly newsletter, and many others, as explained on the benefits page.

One major benefits of this website is the ability of new members to join online.  Members can even pay their dues online.  Select a link in the right margin to join.

Existing members may renew their memberships, update their "contact information" (name, address, phone, etc.), and pay their dues online.  Select a link in the right margin to renew.

Business members received a website link or ad on our CBBQA website. One to twice a year CBBQA will list our business members as supports of CBBQA in the national newsletter. As business members make contributions to CBBQA events, (that are tax deducible) other listings will be posted on the website and the newsletter of the members support, which is greatly appreciated.
