What we do . . .
We like to sit around the barbecue pit, watching the smoke rising out of the
stack, drinking a Dr. Pepper or maybe an adult beverage and pondering barbecue, the size of the universe,
the meaning of life and other matters of importance.
We also, from time to time, if the feeling strikes us just right, and we've
got a beverage in hand, will impart our "Q" knowledge to new barbecue
friends so that they too can produce real barbecue. So join us for some fun,
food and friends! Who knows, you might just learn a thing or two about barbecue,
the size of the universe, the meaning of life and other matters of importance.
Q-Fests
Several times a year, we organize barbecue festivals (“Q-Fests”) at a park or
campground.
We smoke some meat, bring a potluck dish and have ourselves a very nice weekend.
In addition, we put on seminars and demonstrations relating to barbecue
and cooking.

CBBQA members and friends line up at the buffet line at a Q-Fest.

Bill Wight presents his salsa making seminar at a Q-Fest.

Dan Cannon instructs on how to make sausage at a Q-Fest Seminar.
Picnics
We have “backyard smoke-outs”, beach parties, picnics and tailgate parties at
the ballpark. We fire up a smoker and a grill or two and do some barbecue and
hamburgers.

We help organize sanctioned BBQ contests in California and promote contests
across America and around the world, like the American Royal in Kansas City,
Memphis-in-May, and the World Championships.
Kids
And we host Kids Q contests, picnics, barbecues and parties for needy
children and their families.

He host a cbbqa mailing list on Yahoo Groups that allows our members and
friends to stay in touch and share ideas and recipes. This is a great
place to ask barbecue or cooking related questions.
