To learn more about barbecue and how you can participate in the many BBQ events scheduled throughout the year, the California Barbecue Association extends this special invitation.

The Association is a charitable organization whose mission is to assist needy children by helping promote the public’s understanding and appreciation of authentic American barbecue.  Barbecue is an important part of our American heritage and America’s only authentic cuisine, but few Americans have ever tasted real barbecue.

Members share their interest in BBQ in a wide variety of ways.  Many are backyard novices and students, eager to learn new techniques and styles.  Others enjoy the thrill of competition by entering cook-offs.  Many learn regional styles and the nuances of flavor, and they volunteer as certified judges at sanctioned contests.  Others just enjoy the ambiance of BBQ.

The Association hosts and sanctions barbecue events throughout California, including two-day barbecue festivals ("Q-Fests"), afternoon picnics, seminars, socials, tail-gate parties, beach fests, contests and many other other events.

The Association publishes a monthly newsletter, listing upcoming barbecue events throughout the state.  For the benefit of its members and the public, the Association maintains this award-winning, active, extensive, and publicly accessible website to spread the history, art and science of America's only authentic cuisine, barbecue.
